Planning a hiking trip
Hiking is one of the simplest forms of adventure travel and one of the most rewarding. With nothing but a backpack and some simple gear, you can see fascinating scenery, get close to wildlife, and challenge yourself to exceed your limits with each new trail you attempt.
There are some important factors to consider when scheduling a hiking trip, such as the terrain, climate, and trail length you would like to attempt for your next hike. Take a look at national park websites, private trail reviews, and other hikers’ online comments and reviews to find trails that fit your personal criteria. Before you choose a destination, do some research into the weather and general climate so you can make your trip coincide with dryer and more temperate weather.
You will need a backpack appropriate for the length of your hike, a medium to large sized one for shorter hikes and a full camping frame for overnight hikes. You will need enough food for longer hikes and enough water to keep yourself well hydrated throughout your hike. If you are hiking overnight, you will need a bedroll, a tent, and possibly some cooking supplies. You should carry a poncho in case of rain. You will need a good pair of hiking boots and more socks than you think you will need. Taking extra socks enables you to hange socks and keep your feet dry and avoid debilitating blisters and have a more enjoyable hike.
